Future of Fuels Case Study Library

The fuel technology case study library is a sharing platform for fleet owners to compare clean fuel technologies independently tested and rated by peer companies.

Future of Fuels Case Study Library Overview

Purpose

The global freight system is in transformation. Buyers, regulators, and the public want freight that is simultaneously more economical, more flexible, and more sustainable. To meet joint objectives of economic growth and emissions reductions, operators will need to leverage a diverse, often confusing, set of existing and emerging solutions.

To respond to this need, BSR’s Future of Fuels and the Sustainable Fuel Buyers Principles Signatories—leading companies working toward a vision of commercial road freight fueled by low-carbon, sustainable technology—developed this library covering a cross-section of clean fuels and technologies, to facilitate information sharing, decrease barriers to entry, and accelerate adoption of alternatives.

Case Study Submission Process

The library will continue to grow as more case studies are submitted. We are currently accepting submissions from Future of Fuels members and Fuel Principles signatories. If you wish to submit a case study or to learn more about the process, please talk to us.

Case Study Development/Methodology

All case studies available here were provided by Future of Fuels members and Sustainable Fuel Buyers Principles signatories. Data originate from pilot tests previously performed and were compiled by fleets via a standardized template developed by BSR and available for download (MS Word format). To develop the template, BSR narrowed 130 potential data points down to 50 by benchmarking existing case studies and interviewing fleet owners and suppliers. We then finalized the template at Future of Fuels meetings with member companies. All case studies submitted were reviewed for completeness by BSR before being published.
