How We Work

Collaboration

Our powerful global network of member companies, cross-sector collaborative initiatives, and grant-funded partnerships ensures that no company is alone in addressing sustainability challenges.

Creating Shared Solutions to Global Challenges

Businesses, working together and with stakeholders, have the power to tackle systemic challenges related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as climate change, economic inequity, and gender inequality.

Increased collaboration is good for societies, who benefit from the collective reach, resources, and voice of businesses working in common cause. And it is good for businesses, who can build more resilient supply chains, reduce costs and improve productivity, overcome systemic barriers, and enhance brand value.

BSR has over 25 years of experience in designing, implementing, and scaling effective business-led collaborations.

How to Work with Us

Choose from a wide range of collaborations where you can work with other committed businesses and stakeholders to implement impactful solutions to global challenges. Our 20+ collaborations bring together more than 400 organizations and benefit from BSR’s suite of six services designed to optimize the value to business and society of each collaboration. You can collaborate with peers from sectors such as construction, healthcare, and luxury, or across sectors on common topics such as human rights, women’s empowerment, and reporting.

CoLab IDEAS process

The IDEAS Process

BSR uses the IDEAS process to create game-changing collaborations. The incubator focuses on Ideating, Designing, and Exploring solutions. Successful solutions are then moved forward to Acceleration and Scale.

Our Report: Private-Sector Collaboration for Sustainable Development

Drawing on expert interviews, group discussions, and BSR’s experiences, this report identifies the characteristics of successful collaborations and helps companies better understand how to prepare for and contribute to their success.

It also proposes a taxonomy of collaboration and highlights risk factors that might prevent a collaboration from succeeding. Finally, it considers what the next generation of corporate collaboration might involve.

Special thanks to The Rockefeller Foundation for their support of our collaboration work.
