With a focus on robust evidence and actionable insights, BSR’s experts investigate emerging issues and generate solutions for business to build a just and sustainable world. Through our research, we aim to shape and advance the debate, bridge the gap between corporate sustainability theory and practice, and provide high-quality information and analysis on key sustainability issues.

Our Approach and Methods

We combine primary and secondary research, drawing from credible sources, emerging analysis, and original insights from our vast network of project participants and member companies, as well as BSR’s deep experience working on sustainability challenges around the world. By tapping global and local business, government, and civil society networks, our research is informed by diverse perspectives and unique collaborations. To ensure high quality and objectivity, all of our in-depth reports undergo a rigorous internal and external peer review process.

We maintain high standards of excellence to ensure that all of our research products are grounded in fact and independent analysis. Our research offerings include reports, working papers, and briefs, and we conduct three types of research:

• Public research funded by BSR to advance knowledge on cutting-edge issues and trends
• Public research funded by civil society, business, academic, and government partners to inform actions and policies on critical environmental and social challenges
